preBeta Launch – 2nd Sept 2010

Posted: September 1st, 2010 | Author: admin | Filed under: Uncategorized | Tags: , , , , | No Comments »

Finally the time has come to open the pre-Beta to the world.  We have had lots of testing with our test user group and now feel we are ready to give you all an opportunity to feedback.

As part of the Launch 48 showcase, whaddado will be one of the 18 exhibitors to some top investors and the web startup community.  It will be held at the London PayPal office and promises to be a great day to launch the Whaddado pre-beta.

Make sure you get your ticket to come along, free beer and pizza.

And of course some check out the new site, login via facebook, add some whaddados, create lists and share with your friends.  The more followers you get the more points.  And points means great things to whaddadoers.

Hold onto your hats folks, we’re nearly there; yes Whaddado is finally about to take to the world stage for our dress rehearsal. We’ve labored long and hard these past months to bring our vision to life and now we’d like to start by inviting a few ‘nice’ people to give us some feedback, point out any errors they come across before we’re ready to release Whaddado on an unsuspecting public.  Expect to see our lovely holding page replaced by what we term a preBeta release.  Return soon to participate and join in sharing great ideas with the Whaddado community.

Whaddado partners with Flickr

There are lots of reasons for why we have chosen the Flickr API as our preferred image supplier.  For one I love the easy to use API and we are particularly interested in the geo coding and places methods that could really benefit our community.

There is also lots of pre-exisiting PHP lib files such as ZEND and various Codeigniter libraries that will be able to interact well with flickr.  We are also interested in using the swfuploader for a simple uploader to the flickr API.

Overall we found Flickr to meet all our current Beta needs and a great partner to use for future proofing.  Expect to see full flickr integration at launch.  Our new account will be http://www.flickr.com/photos/whaddado/, there will be lots of testing on this account over the coming months but eventually you will see user photos start to appear in here.

Team Whaddado has expanded and is currently being developed in 3 countries.   The UK is still handling the core development however there are developers in both Czech Republic and Romania.   Currently we are seeking more developers that specialize in advance PHP OOP and Codeigniter development.  Along with backend development we will begin to expand the front end development team to complete new designs coming out of the London office.
